education + teaching

as a coach

I've taught classes at Vickery Athletics in the heart of Dallas, Texas since 2021, with two of those years also teaching classes at Recess Fitness Club.

I have a degree in nutrition, a NASM-certification, and a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification. I never use anything of what I learned from those qualifications. Instead, my time training in various gyms, coaching classes ranging from three to fifty people, self-prescribed experiments, and various, deep research has led me to form my style of coaching and teaching.

Today, I help my clients break down their limitations and push hard to be the best version of themselves. Whether you're a serious bodybuilder, a beginner in the gym, someone who just wants some more guidance, or anything in between, I can help you reach your goals sustainably and unlock your true, deep health and potential.

Who is Stefan Rueda and what makes his coaching different?

I'm a student of life. Born in Mexico. Raised in Dallas since I was five. I lived a year in Paris at eighteen. I'm trilingual. Most days you'll find me coaching clients somewhere between an espresso and my own training session.

What sets me apart is the philosophy. Call it the love child of old-school high-intensity training and modern science-based lifting. Certifications matter, but they're trivial next to the approach: optimize resistance profiles over stability drills, train to real failure over plyometrics, control range of motion to isolate the muscle doing the work instead of chasing novelty like battle ropes.

Most coaches lean on outdated, one-size-fits-all models. My programming is built on what actually matters: progressive overload, movement optimized for hypertrophy, nutrition coaching with real accountability, and a coach who will call you out on your bullshit.

Do you coach online, or only in person in Dallas?

Both. The coaching on this site, nutrition and personal training, is fully online. Programmed and updated weekly, no matter where you live.

I also coach one-on-one in person in Dallas (Uptown, Lower Greenville, Knox-Henderson, Downtown, Old East Dallas), and I've been head coach of group classes at Vickery Athletics since 2021.

Who is this coaching not a good fit for?

I can coach anyone willing to commit real time and energy to their health and trust the process. What doesn't work: someone chasing a generic template, a quick fix, or a coach who won't call them out.

This is driven equal parts from data and discipline. Weekly check-ins. Honest food tracking. Adjustments based on how you're actually responding, not how a spreadsheet predicted. If you won't be consistent and honest with me, it won't work.

Why do you limit the amount of spots available?

Keeping the number small is intentional. Spread across too many clients and the coaching turns generic. A limited roster is what lets me give every client the depth of attention their program actually needs.

What results can I realistically expect, and in what timeframe?

Depends what we're working on. Training and programming: quick neuromuscular adaptations first, then slow, steady gains in strength and muscle mass.

Nutrition coaching: reclaiming your health as a whole. Better digestion. 5 to 10% body-fat reduction. Clearer mental focus. A fixed sleep cycle.

Some clients see change in 4 weeks, clear change by 8, noticeable and tangible change by 12. Complex issues can take 8 months or more. It comes down to complexity and commitment.
